The Korean Balance Society is the official national society for the specialists interested in the physiology and pathology of the vestibular, visual, and ocular motor systems. Since the foundation in 1999, the Korean Balance Society has attained marked developments and has become one of the leading societies in the world. This progress has led to the hosting of 2016 Barany Society Meeting in Seoul that will be another big step forward for our society. I believe that all these advancements have been possible through the dedication and intimate cooperation of our society members.
Now, the Korean Balance Society has more than 800 members including otolaryngologists, neurologists, and basic scientists. The society is holding biannual meetings with around 300 participants, and case conferences on a regular basis. “Research in Vestibular Science”, the official journal of the Korean Balance Society, is issued four times a year, and the published articles have been improved markedly.
As the 9th chairman of the Korean Balance Society, I will carry forward the following projects with the executive board members. First, we will do our best for successful holding of 2016 Barany Society Meeting in Seoul, in close cooperation with the organizing committee. The 2016 Barany Society Meeting will provide fascinating opportunities for exchanging updated knowledge and promoting friendship among the participants. Second, we will organize a nationwide network that will actively take part in the research projects related to the vestibular science. Third, we will revise our Korean textbook on “Balance Disorders” to incorporate the new information since its first edition in 2005. Finally, we will continue our activities to strengthen the friendship and cooperation among our society members and international colleagues.
Dear members and colleagues,
For continued developments of the Korean Balance Society, your firm support and advisement would be appreciated. Thank you.
